Episode 2 of I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class is a solid follow-up to the premiere. It introduces a new character who complicates the central relationship, creates genuine tension around Maki and Umi's secret friendship, and delivers a satisfying emotional payoff when Maki chooses Umi over Yuu's invitation. The pacing still isn't perfect, and the animation won't win any awards, but the writing and character work carry the episode.
