📖 SYNOPSIS

"Chocchan Monogatari" is a feature-length film based on the autobiography of Cho "Chocchan" Kuroyanagi, mother of actress Tetsuko Kuroyanagi. The story begins in pre-World War 2 Japan, where Chocchan marries a violinist, defying the objections of both families. Despite their poverty, they find happiness raising their three children. The film portrays their unwavering optimism and ability to face misfortune with a smile. However, their idyllic life is disrupted by the outbreak of war, presenting a new challenge to their family's happiness as Chocchan's husband is forced to leave for the front lines. The film explores themes of family, resilience, and finding joy amidst hardship.
