READTHROUGH
The Quest for Clean Books
Second-hand Bookstore travels through a tranquil landscape, tired but focused on a specific goal. Their destination is a clean, bright bookstore, a welcome sight after their journey. Inside, they select three new volumes, a look of profound satisfaction settling on their face. Clutching their acquisitions, Second-hand Bookstore stands outside, clearly pleased with the success of their quest. The sharp, clean lines of the new books contrast with the weary traveler.
A Moment of Peace
Second-hand Bookstore finds a peaceful meadow, settling onto a large rock to read one of their new books. They hum softly, lost in the pages. The serene setting, with mountains and clear skies, suggests a well-earned respite. This quiet moment, however, feels fragile, a temporary lull before something intrudes.
The Mushroom's Arrival
The peace shatters when Momonga suddenly appears, startling Second-hand Bookstore. A large, white, bulbous mushroom grows directly from Momonga's head, occasionally releasing spores. Momonga complains of sluggishness and sleepiness, yet oddly asks if the mushroom makes it look cute. Second-hand Bookstore observes this strange affliction with a mixture of concern and bewilderment.
A Fungal Feast
Inside a cozy room, Momonga devours a bowl of curry fried rice with furious gusto. A title card reveals this meal was made from the very mushrooms that afflicted Momonga. "Delicious! Give me more!" Momonga exclaims, rice clinging to its face. Second-hand Bookstore watches, the silent preparer of this unconventional remedy.
The Demanding Guest
As Momonga continues eating, it rudely demands, "Isn't there any more easy-to-understand entertainment? Give me more!" from Second-hand Bookstore. The atmosphere grows subtly tense as Momonga's demands escalate. When Second-hand Bookstore approaches with another plate, Momonga declares, "I can't wait, so I'll eat your portion too! I want to eat it all!" and lunges for the food. Second-hand Bookstore visibly recoils, caught in the grip of Momonga's burgeoning greed.
Curtain Call
The episode concludes with Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi dancing rhythmically to the theme song, framed by a giant open book. Momonga joins them, a cheerful figure in the synchronized movements. Production credits scroll alongside, bringing a lighthearted, musical close to the story.
