READTHROUGH
Chikawa's Awkward Weapon
Hachiware, seated on a grey rock, oversees Chikawa's weapon practice. Chikawa wields its claw-like tool with determination, though Hachiware quickly points out its inherent flaw. "That weapon," Hachiware observes, "It has a long reach, but aren't there times when it's a bit difficult to use?" Chikawa nods, a blush on its face, acknowledging the truth in the critique.
Usagi's Edible Stick
The training is then interrupted by Usagi, who leaps into the scene, its own yellow stick in hand, proclaiming it is "Sanpo-chuu," or "during a walk." Hachiware notes that Usagi's weapon also boasts a significant reach, perhaps for joint endeavors. The scene then twists, revealing Usagi gnawing contentedly on its implement, which is, in fact, a long piece of pickled daikon radish, a Takuan. Hachiware's surprise is audible, a perfect comedic beat.
Momonga's Sweet Awakening
The narrative shifts, introducing Momonga, deep in a tranquil sleep, its dreams clearly pleasant. A small grey character attempts to rouse it, holding a book, but Momonga stirs only reluctantly. It lets out a surprised sound, then immediately wishes itself back into slumber, murmuring for "sweet dreams." The pull of its dream world is strong, almost tangible.
A Dream of Whipped Cream
Still half-awake, Momonga stretches, making soft sounds, clearly longing for something sweet. Its body floats upward, surrounded by pink bubbles, a visual representation of its ecstatic dream state. The small grey character observes, noting Momonga's blissful expression, before a thought bubble reveals the dream's core: a swirl of whipped cream. Fully awakened, and now with a fluffy blue tail, Momonga intensely demands a "sweet cream carriage" book from the small grey character, who is now accompanied by Chikawa.
Watching the World End
The episode concludes with the various characters, including Chikawa, Hachiware, Usagi, Momonga, the small grey character (now identified as Kurimanjuu), and Rakkko, gathered to watch the credits scroll. Their expressions and positions subtly change throughout the song, which itself speaks of morning and buttered toast, ending on a reflective note. This communal, quiet observation acts as a gentle farewell.
