The animation is such a glow up, especially the effects during the night scenes. The whole episode felt so intense and high stakes with the new threats. Ren Yamashiro's presence is insane, and the production really nailed her vibe. Loving the new season. <3

Poor Yuuki, just cannot catch a break with these constant conflicts for him 😱. But honestly, Nei is having some great momentos with Yuuki and Shushu is funny as HELL!! 🤣✨ Kyouka does not have it easy.

Build up prep for next episode is peak. Less action but more on the prepping side gave it exciting chills and expectation! Hoping for a good Episode 3!

It balances the slower, character-focused moments with necessary world-building, setting up the foundation for the incoming threats without rushing into immediate combat.

The infiltration subplot raised the stakes but the execution was middling. They keep teasing the Thunder Gods without really committing to the threat. Character interactions carried the episode more than the actual plot progression.

The way Kyouka gets so protective over Yuuki PLEASE these two are gonna be the death of me. The Thunder God sneaking in was tense but all I could focus on was the character dynamics between the squad. Their bond is everything.

The Thunder God infiltration was intense. I like how they're building up the threat level but the fanservice keeps pulling me out of the tension. The dynamic between Yuuki and the commanders is getting more complex though which is nice.

lowkey a total fever dream where Tenka Izumo officially decides to become everyone’s favorite problem. While Episode 1 was the "we’re back" hype, Episode 2 is where the 6th Unit starts speedrunning the "stealing your man" trope, and honestly? The chemistry is hitting different.

Definitely setting up the premise for the series, though the pacing of the show feels a little weird. It feels rushed, yet slow at the same time.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 1's Commanders' Meeting established the inter-squad political landscape for the season; 'Ren's Shadow' pivots inward, strengthening the 7th Unit's bonds before larger conflicts demand cohesion. Sitting early at episode 2 of 12, this is a deliberate character-investment play — deepening relationships and showcasing individual abilities that will pay off as the season's escalating threats take shape. Expect the groundwork laid here, particularly around Shushu, to ripple into the mid-season action arcs.
