Episode Context

Episode 651 arrives as a palate cleanser after the intense 'Detective Agency Confinement Case' hostage arc spanning episodes 648-650, shifting from high-stakes danger to a more playful competitive tone. As a standalone special, it functions as a bridge episode before the series moves into the 'Design of Poison and Illusion' arc beginning with episode 652. Its self-contained nature and focus on the Conan-Heiji dynamic make it a rewarding watch without requiring heavy continuity knowledge.
