Episode Context

This episode follows the conclusion of the 'Mystery of the Water Flowing Stone Garden' two-parter, pivoting to a completely new case and location with its own distinct tone. It introduces Inspector Juugo Yokomizo as a recurring figure and begins exploring Ran's personal struggles in ways that carry forward. The story continues directly into 'Chinatown Deja Vu in the Rain (Part 2),' making this a setup-heavy first half that demands the follow-through.
