Episode Context

As the series premiere, this episode shoulders the responsibility of introducing Shinichi Kudou, Ran Mouri, and the core identity of the show, and it delivers efficiently through a standalone murder case that doubles as a character showcase. There's no prior context needed; this is the starting line. It leads directly into 'President's Daughter Kidnapping Case,' continuing to build momentum and deepen the character dynamics established here while setting the stage for the series' transformative early events.
