READTHROUGH
Aichi's Opening Gambit
Aichi Sendou stands before Toshiki Kai, his gaze fixed on the battlefield as his Blaster Blade unit takes its place. The card radiates a quiet power, reflecting the new strength within Aichi himself. He sacrifices counter blasts, a painful cost, to clear Kai's field, a bold and unexpected move. His friends Morikawa and Izaki watch, dumbfounded, as the once-timid boy now commands the field with an almost serene confidence.
The Memory of Blaster Blade
A poignant memory surfaces, taking us back to a younger Aichi, tear-streaked and bullied, on a quiet cherry blossom path. There, a young Kai appears, offering him the Blaster Blade card, not just as a gift, but as an idea, a symbol to "image" strength. Returning to the present, Aichi speaks, his voice thick with gratitude, explaining to Kai that this card, this memory, was his anchor. He confesses he built his whole world around this game, around the hope of finding Kai again, a revelation that hangs heavy in the air.
Kai's Cruelty and Overlord's Arrival
Kai's response to Aichi's heartfelt confession is a chilling dismissal, a calculated blow designed to shatter Aichi's spirit. He claims his past kindness was a cynical ploy, a trap to lure Aichi and his rare cards. The words land like a physical strike, leaving Aichi visibly shaken, and Morikawa aghast at Kai's ruthlessness. Then, Kai performs a powerful ride, summoning the Dragonic Overlord amidst a pillar of fire, transforming the very world of the cardfight into a scorched wasteland to match his words.
Dragonic Overlord's Fury and Aichi's Miracle
The Dragonic Overlord unleashes its "Eternal Flame," burning Aichi's units from the field one by one, leaving him exposed and vulnerable. Misaki Tokura, usually impassive, watches with a flicker of interest as Aichi's board is systematically dismantled. With nothing left to defend, Aichi braces for the final blow, hoping for a damage trigger. A miracle occurs: a Heal Trigger, the Priestess of the World Tree, Elain, appears, granting him a precious reprieve and staving off defeat by the narrowest margin.
Aichi's Resolve and the Final Blow
With his resolve hardened, Aichi rejects Kai's earlier cruelty, focusing instead on the initial warmth of Kai's gift. A soft blue aura emanates from him, a visual representation of his newfound inner strength. He calls Elain to the field, boosting her with Flogal, launching his final attack. Blaster Blade clashes fiercely with Dragonic Overlord, a critical trigger turning the tide at the last moment. The massive dragon vanishes, defeated, as Aichi secures an improbable victory.
The Aftermath and a Subtle Smile
The battle ends, and Kai collects his cards with his usual stoicism, but a subtle, almost imperceptible smile plays on his lips as he departs. Aichi watches him go, the relief palpable, clutching his Blaster Blade card, knowing he has not only won a game but reaffirmed a vital connection. From behind the counter, Misaki takes it all in, observing the nascent rivalry that has just begun, understanding that Aichi is more than just a beginner.
Aichi's New Confidence
The next day, Aichi is in class, his mind far from the lesson, fixed instead on his Blaster Blade card. Though his classmates tease him for his distraction, their barbs no longer sting; he carries the quiet confidence of his victory within him. In the hallway, Morikawa confronts him, declaring himself Aichi's mentor and loudly demanding a rematch. Aichi declines calmly, his newfound poise frustrating Morikawa and amusing Izaki, showing how deeply the previous day's events have changed him.
New Beginnings at Card Capital
Aichi finds a moment of peace by a pond, reflecting on his journey and visualizing the world of Cray, solidifying his commitment to the game. Later, back at Card Capital, Kai returns with his boisterous friend, Miwa, filling the shop with a new, lively energy. The respect between Aichi and Kai is now an unspoken truth, evident to everyone. The episode concludes with a montage, showing Aichi playing against various opponents, his skills growing, his confidence blossoming, signaling that this victory is merely the first step on a much larger adventure.
