Synopsis
At 10 years old, Capeta Taira is managing a household, dodging school bullies, and quietly carrying the weight of growing up without a mom — all while making sure his overworked dad doesn't worry about him. It's a tough setup, and the show doesn't sugarcoat it. Then his father, piecing together a go-kart from scrap and spare parts, gives Capeta something he didn't know he needed: a way to feel free. The moment Capeta hits the track for the first time, something clicks, and that's really where the story begins. This is a 52-episode TV series about a kid with raw natural talent learning what it actually takes to compete at a serious level. The racing isn't just backdrop — kart techniques, race strategy, and the grind of improvement are treated with genuine care. It's grounded in a way that feels closer to real motorsport than most anime dares to go. If you grew up watching Initial D and want that same obsessive focus on racing craft but with a younger protagonist and more heart behind it, Capeta scratches that itch. It also shares DNA with Hajime no Ippo in how it builds a underdog from the ground up — slowly, honestly, without shortcuts. The emotional core is a father-son relationship that earns every beat it gets. Give it three or four episodes before you decide.
