Candy Candy

I love how not only there is a direct continuation from the past episode, but also we get to see unresolved pain reopen as Candy and Annie face the separation dilemma again. There's a portrayal of complex emotions of children forming deep bonds with each other as living together while at the same time craving to be adopted by loving families. I just think it's so cleverly written and it delivers such a deep emotional punch.

This exceeded my expectations! Very sweet vintage show with a gorgeous and nostalgic animation. Makes me think of soviet cartoons and early Dragon Ball I grew up watching. It was a cosy watch and I liked the dialogues that felt more realistic than the usual stereotypical exaggerations. The story is so sweet too, and the characters are pretty wacky and unhinged at times! I already love Candy, she reminds me of Usagi! I was a bit uncomfortable with the man adopting Tom, but I could understand the nuance as physical punishment was normal in previous generations. Overall, the first episode was a great pilot episode and served beautifully as a standalone story.

Menurutku ending-nya sedikit tidak memuaskan karena ada satu peristiwa hidup yang kurang dari Candy. Dan berbicara tentang penilaian secara keseluruhan dari anime ini, aku suka karena plot ceritanya kuat dan alurnya rapi. Mungkin akan lebih bagus jika anime ini dibuat remake-nya dengan kualitas animasi saat ini, sehingga akan terlihat bagaimana cerita anime ini dikemas.
