Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Dragged into a fantasy world by accident, Mukouda is nothing more than a regular salaryman with exactly one skill to his name. His only skill? Access to an online supermarket from modern Japan. Sounds useless until you realize he can cook with real ingredients, soy sauce, miso, rice, in a world that's never tasted any of it. Season 1 built the setup: a legendary fenrir wolf named Fel and a cute slime called Sui basically became his traveling companions because his food is that good. Now in this second season, a rare pixie dragon shows up, eats one meal, and refuses to leave. That's the pattern here, and honestly it never stops being funny, absurdly powerful creatures reduced to begging for seconds. This 12-episode TV series from MAPPA keeps the same cozy energy. There's adventuring and dungeon crawling, but the real draw is watching Mukouda whip up tonkatsu or beef stew while mythical beasts drool in the background. The stakes stay low, the food animation is genuinely gorgeous, and the comedy leans on the absurd power gap between Mukouda and his familiars who could level cities but mostly care about dinner. If you liked the warm food-focused vibes of Isekai Shokudou or the way Isekai Izakaya made you hungry just watching it, this scratches the same itch but with more adventure baked in. It's comfort food anime in the most literal sense, just a chill watch where the biggest conflict is what to cook next.

It's perfect need season 3
This anime makes you crave every food Mukouda cooks. I'm no Japanese but I want to eat them all! It makes me want to go to Japan and savor the authentic taste of each meals he make. I'm very glad that this series includes the recipe. Well, it does say in the title that it is cooking, what am I saying?! I like the connection of Mukouda and the gods of that world. It gave a playful but meaningful touch to the plot. Which I assume will help the MC to navigate the world. OP fighting is so good to watch (it wasn't really a fight in the first place because of how powerful the familiars are, LOL). It just made sense that wonderful cooking can boost anyone's powers. This applies in our world too. YOU LOT SHOULD ALSO BE EATING HAPPILY! ENJOY WHAT THIS WORLD HAS TO OFFER. Let's be the Mukouda of our life and fight off the monsters blocking our way! This is my comfort anime, and therefore, 5 STARS!
Rasanya bisa lebih banyak uang yang Mukoda terima ga, sih? Resep barunya juga kayaknya perlu aku coba juga.
everything looks delicious, and the reactions from the characters (especially Fel, the giant wolf) make it even better. It’s funny, wholesome
While the cooking scenes were perfect usual, the rest of the episode was going stale to the lack of characterization varieties for the side characters. All the male gods and the dwarves were alcoholic. It made the episode felt so repetitive and unimaginative.
Wah reuni!! Untuk sesaat Mukoda nggak sendirian manusia. Aku juga kalau ketemu dia pasti bakal minta makanannya juga sih. Ini dungeonnya sedalam apa sih? Tapi seru banget jadi mirip game.
Elrand mewakili semua orang soal keinginan mencoba makanan Mukoda. Rapi banget pula kerjaannya. Makanan di episode ini emang keliatannya sedikit dry, tapi tetap aja pasti enak kalau dimakan.
Apa Elrand berdasarkan Elrond dari Lord of The Rings?
Selalu bikin lapar, selalu bikin kenyang. Sekarang nambah satu familiar lagi, pula. Mukoda, jangan stres ya. Hahahah. Fel makin gemas, Sui makin imut, Dora ... lapar kali kau. Mirip saya.
Mukoda learns more about doing business and how easy it was to be tricked by merchants. He got very rich I think in this episode from selling the gems he found at the dungeon. And we have a little bit of plot progression. The ending is perfect to start a new journey to another city.
In previous episode, we saw Mukoda avoided fights despite he was blessed with Perfect Defence from Hephaestus. I thought we would see more character development in this episode but nope. Still followed the same formula as before. Although the fight towards the end was good and animated well, the stakes were low and the resolution to solve the conflict was too easy. It did try to build up suspense or thrill but since we all familiars were powerful, the build up was useless. We know they're gonna win no matter what. Fight scenes are less engaging when there are no high stakes at all.
The dungeon was just a generic dungeon design; climb floors higher and higher and there's chests waiting to be collected. Not stakes because everyone was so strong, there's no elements of excitement or suspense because we already know Mukoda and his familiar will always win. The highlight for this episode in my opinion was when Mukoda met the adventurers who helped him in the first city in season 1. It's such a heartwarming scene seeing them sharing foods together while exploring the dungeons. Although the exploring part wasn't that great, the reunion with the explorers what made the episode so entertaining for me.
The built up to finally have earth dragon's meat is paid off. Elleland's characterization is fleshed out a bit more in this episode. He can be a great comic relief character but we probably won't be seeing him again after this episode. Also Mukoda has more authority over his familiars. He finally can say no to them (well, as long it's not Sui asking things lol)! Fel and Dora-chan listen to Mukoda a lot more despite not agreeing with his decision. More fleshing out Dora-chan's characterization about its opinion for cannibalism since they're eating dragon's meat and Dora-chan is a dragon. And foreshadowing for more adventure towards the end of the episode; they're entering a dungeon!
We got a little bit of summary from previous season and a new side character, Elleland. He's an elf and a guild master who's obsessed with dragons. He's portrayed as the typical eccentric type of character. The story progressed linearly. No up and down moments. Elleland tried to process the earth dragon's meat with his mithril knife but the skin was too hard it broke his knife. This was how we were introduced with another new gods; Hephaestus and Vahang. Hephaestus blessed Sui with blacksmithing skill and Vahang gave Fel and Dora-chan battle enhancement skill. Overall this episode was more of setting up for next one. Just info dumping and some summary. Nothing too exciting but still a decent episode.
Started off with a new familiar for Mukoda, a pixie dragon named Dora-chan. First episode of season 2 used the same formula as before. There's not much of worldbuilding going on. Dora-chan is it's a mix of Sui and Fenrir; it had a little bit of childlike wonder like Sui and an attitude like Fenrir. Since episode 1 was just to introduce Dora-chan, I have yet to form an opinion about its dynamic with Mukoda and the other familiars. Pixie dragons supposed to be rare but people barely reacted when Mukoda arrived in a city with Dora-chan. Kinda not very immersive for me. Amazing visual as always, especially the cooking scene. Vibrant colours, smooth animation and detailed work during cooking scene.
This episode is honestly really satisfying! Seeing Mukohda and the gang finally getting the taste of that dragon steak. It’s still super cozy but you can really feel the payoff from everything before.
This episode is so heartwarming TOT I like that Mukohda made it a trade instead of just giving the elixir away, it teaches the kids a valuable lesson and inspires them to be like him.
