Busou Shoujotai: Blade Briders The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Aliens pour through wormholes and begin wiping out humanity, with nobody having any answers — until workers dig up a cave in Japan and find both an ancient weapon that builds anything you can imagine and a guy named Ryuusei who's been frozen in it. He wakes up, figures out the weapon, and turns the tide of the invasion. One year later, the war is technically over, but the aliens aren't done, and Ryuusei is now heading a freshly formed Defence Force unit called the Blade Briders — a squad of young women recruited specifically because they can sync with his imagination-based combat system. The setup leans into familiar territory if you've watched Queen's Blade or Busou Shinki: female fighters, futuristic action, and adult content woven into a sci-fi framework. The 'imagination embodiment' weapon concept is actually kind of interesting on paper — the idea that your mental creativity is literally your firepower has some potential. If you've come across Burst Angel and appreciated that blend of girls-with-guns action and mature themes in a near-future setting, the vibe here is in the same neighborhood. This is a single OVA episode from 2015, adapted from a visual novel, so you're not committing to much. Go in knowing what it is — adult sci-fi with some world-building window dressing — and it delivers exactly what it promises.
