Episode Context

As the series premiere of a 12-episode season, this episode carries the full weight of world-building and character introduction, establishing Atsushi's circumstances and his fateful encounter with Dazai and the Armed Detective Agency. It plants the seeds for the supernatural mystery framework that will drive the entire season. The next episode, 'A Certain Bomb,' escalates the stakes by introducing external threats that test the dynamics established here, making this a necessary foundation for everything that follows.
