Episode severs to prove Ranpo’s intellect even further as he purposely baits himself in order to figure out the true nature of the theater crime. The sombrr moment Fukuzawa and Ranpo shared really hit home because it’s almost as if it’s a father scolding their son for his reckless actions in regret of the possibility of losing them. It makes Ranpo childish antics much more impact because for once in his life, the Agency provides a place of escape from all the “monsters” Ranpo had endured as a result of his mind.
