Bungo and Alchemist -Gears of Judgement-
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Famous writers throughout history find themselves being reincarnated by a mysterious, unseen entity known as the Alchemist. With their souls confined and bound to an expansive library, they are tasked by the Alchemist to jump into books to purify the pages of monsters called Taints. Along the way, they must also rescue and recruit fellow authors trapped within the very stories they themselves had written. Although the writers take on new and powerful forms for this endeavor, some still maintain a semblance of who they once were, while others struggle to remember their pasts and the works they had penned. Despite there being no apparent end to their grand mission, they remain committed to the cause in hope of resolving the mystery behind their collective resurrection as well as questions that have haunted their former lives.

Dazai's resolve shines so much in this finale and I can't help but cheer for him. What a sentimental character he was, with the way he expresses what he feels about the creative process and how he refutes the tainted Akutagawa. This episode is very satisfying in a lot of ways, and I'm glad to have watched it in full!
Understanding what led Akutagawa to his fate was great, but it was one that certainly stings a lot to watch. I might almost sympathize with him, really. Superb second to the last episode here, I absolutely love the tension and the action between all the authors going all out as best as they can in this situation.
This episode was heartwrenching to watch. The despair of deciding what must be the right thing to do and how to act upon what you decided - such tasty conflicts to see. I love that by taking the time for us to know most of the authors, we get the proof that they're not doing it just for the plot but because they do care. The fight scene was also well done. Can't wait to see more.
A fair half of this episode is honestly flashbacks, so you might want to reconsider skipping it up to the middle point. It does serve as a great refresher of everything that has happened so far and also sets up what the next steps will be for Dazai and the rest of the authors in the hall.
The first few seconds perfectly sets up the action for this episode! I love how the production did not hold back on showing the psychological aspects here in Dazai's perspective, as well as the eventual action occuring after. Looks like the storm isn't quite over yet from here, though.
I certainly didn't expect things to go downhill in such a short amount of time! A lot of the tension has been layered so well - and Dazai's sentiments being a part of the focus here really strengthens the conflict between the authors here. I can't wait to see how the rest of the cast handles it from here.
This focus on Akutagawa is really needed at this point and I love it. There's much to think about the heavy dialogue regarding creative work and criticism the authors exchanged in the latter half of the story. It feels both significant to the story and also tugs on the heart of the viewer. Yet another round of hints are dropped again - let's keep going!
This episode almost got me! It started out so peaceful and fun too - making the authors participate in a rather large event. And then you get whiplashed close to the end! It does make me wonder whether I should recommend this as a watch or not; honestly if you're in to see some shenanigans then definitely watch it!
The mystery bit at the first half was quite funny to watch - but also served as a great springboard for us to meet this mini arc's "villain" character. We also get some important insights of certain characters here, let's see if we at least get some payoff in the later chapters.
I appreciate how introspective this episode is! It is a welcome contrast from the high stakes beginnings of previous episodes so far. And then of course, the layers of mysteries that then follow by the middle felt very thrilling and kept me seated. I wonder if there's more to the overarching lore than what meets the eye.
I love the way the flashbacks really enhance our knowledge and understanding of the characters. From what limited knowledge I have of Japanese authors, the homages also look on point. An amazing episode that layers the tension regarding the book's protagonist and the resolution that must follow.
Here we're getting the important premise behind these authors, as well as a new quest for Dazai. I love that they're showing more interactions between the characters as well - I think so far I love Chuuya's because he's the most outgoing! The latter end of the episode is quite thrilling!
I love the setup for this first episode. The scenes really pull your interest in deeper as it went, but some parts do feel a bit confusing. Another point is that our main characters here, Dazai and Akutagawa, also seem to have natural banter. Personally invested in how things turn out from here!
Fiuhh agak roller coaster yaaa...
Konflik semakin pelik, semakin terungkap sedikit demi sedikit permasalahannya. Akutagawa berperan banyak di episode kali ini. Jadi semakin suka sama karakternya. Karakter baru juga menambah kesolid-an dari grup penulis. Bagus banget!! Ngga sabar episode selanjutnya.
