Episode 88 sits deep in an anime-original arc centered on the Hidden Stone Village and Ku's manufactured shinobi, following an episode that explored moral complexity and internal conflict among the cast. This installment pivots hard into direct confrontation, serving as the arc's action crescendo before the emotionally charged 'A Piercing Heart' that follows. While classified as filler, it functions as a critical escalation point within its self-contained storyline.
