I didn't mind the military stuff but the pacing was way off. Having the robots chat and run around instead of diving straight into the fight totally ruined the tone and tension for me.

Who would've thought that specific event can happen. At least they could've at least let that "thing" happen between them. If only it were mutual. Well I feel bad for all of them, which is probably the goal and purpose of the whole anime.
