EPISODE CONTEXT
As the first of only four episodes, 'Blues' carries the full burden of world and character establishment for the entire series. Nothing precedes it, and every scene is laying pipe for the military operation and philosophical confrontations that follow. The episode introduces the central tension — Hayami's reluctant re-enlistment — which drives the arc across all remaining episodes.
