I always do love political or mystery intrigue amidst an action-packed story. It made the lore that much deeper and felt more lived in. The Japanese budhist aesthetic was and we get more exploration of the supporting cast in this episode, especially Konekomaru and Shiemi. That their reservation has something more to do than simple prejudice.
