For an anime-only, the beginning episode would have been a bit confusing since previous season skewed differently from the manga. But it is a very deep and refreshing story in handling both the conflict of Rin and Yukio. With the first half being a reflection of Yukio's flaw and strength in display, while the second half has Rin facing consequences for revealing his secret. The story made it known that 16 years of trauma was not something that can be undone by a few months of friendship, which is a distinct and bold choice.
