Blue Box Season 2
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Every single day looks the same for this lovesick athlete: wake up, practice badminton, and try not to be too obvious about his feelings for Chinatsu Kano, the basketball star who somehow lives under the same roof. Season 1 of Blue Box laid that groundwork beautifully, and this second season picks up right where things left off at Eimei Academy, except now the emotional stakes are higher and the living situation is even more complicated. A new character, Ayame Moriya, enters the picture, and her presence shifts the dynamic in ways that make the love polygon feel genuinely tense rather than manufactured. You can feel the characters actually growing, not just romantically, but as athletes chasing something bigger than themselves. The sports scenes aren't throwaway filler either; the badminton and basketball matches carry real weight because they're tied directly to what these characters want and who they're becoming. The whole thing has this quiet, youthful energy where a shared glance in the hallway hits just as hard as a tournament match point. If you liked Cross Game's blend of sports and slow-burn romance, or the grounded high school tension of Suzuka, this is very much in that lane. Kimi ni Todoke fans will also find something to latch onto here, though Blue Box leans more into the athletic side. It's honest, warm, and never in a rush, which is exactly why it works.

Okay so the whole episode builds to Taiki finally about to say the thing. He is standing there on the observation deck with the city lights below him and his heart going and you can feel every second of that silence because he has been waiting for months to get this out. And then a girl with long black hair strolls up and it is Yumeka the one teammate Chinatsu never talks about and she does not even look at Taiki she just calls Chinatsu by her nickname and asks if she gave up on basketball. That line lands like a slap after everything warm that came before it. Ending the premiere on a question instead of a confession is mean but it tells you exactly where this season is going to hurt
the new studio gave Chinatsu and Taiki slightly chubbier faces and I keep staring at it during quiet scenes. the sunset lighting is gorgeous though no complaints there
kazuma calling taiki protein-kun like he isnt the one crashing someones date is wild. perfectly punchable villain except he kinda has a point about the badminton thing and that bothers me more than the insults
lemme see bro
Chinatsu waiting on his platform instead of going to play with the university guys is the whole show in one shot. She chose him. Quietly. No big speech needed
Matsuoka walking into that cafe and just deciding the date is over now is the most infuriating thing I have watched all season. Dude called Taiki protein-kun and I sat there with my hands clenched
You can tell Taiki researched date spots because he panics when she mentions hers. That small confession from Chinatsu about googling spots for high schoolers did more for me than the whole cafe scene
Yumeka shows up in the last thirty seconds and asks Chinatsu if she gave up on basketball and I just sat there. They really ended the episode on that line. Cruel
Peak romance is back, and it delivers !! Love all the setups during this episode and all the cute moments between the main 2. From the visual standpoint it seems the quality has stepped up, im interested if the season will hold up this quality.
1) white hair dude pissed me off... 2)The classic character who was treated badly that's why she gave up on her dream and trashing on her ex teammate , I have seen this before can't remember tho, I think I will love this character later 😉 Yumeka and Natsu 😏...
the studio switch scared me going in and then that sunset shot on the observation deck happened. new team clearly knows what theyre doing with the lighting here
Matsuoka standing literally between them every time is some of the most infuriating blocking I have seen in a romance anime. Could not stop rolling my eyes at that guy
I get that Matsuoka is there to push Taiki but the guy lecturing him about time for romance while he sniped the whole date is rich. Taiki encouraging Chinatsu to go practice bugged me more than the insults
I couldn't stop smiling when Taiki's big romantic fantasy amounted to Chinatsu in different sportswear. two athletes dating means the date is a shopping trip for a track jacket and that is the most Blue Box thing possible
The animation studio change is noticeable and I am not fully on board. Some of the faces look a little off compared to season one. The lighting is gorgeous though so it evens out
not gonna lie the pacing on this premiere was tight. no dragged out cliffhanger no filler they just threw us straight into the date. season one would have stalled three episodes before the sports store
the moment Taiki offers Chinatsu his brand new jersey because she is cold and she just says it feels like deja vu. that got me. she remembered the muffler and the tea
That sunset talk ruined me. She found that spot researching date spots for high schoolers. She was already watching him train long before they lived together. I was not ready for her to be the one who was paying attention first
So are we just not talking about Matsuoka's silver hair or is that a basketball thing. Guy talks like he invented the sport. The espresso story was funny though I will give him that
Taiki y Chinatsu comparten una linda tarde juntos, aunque un personaje indeseable se suma y, al final, Chinatsu se reencuentra con alguien de su pasado. ¡Tengo muchas expectativas para esta temporada!
