Overall, the movie was good, especially with its slower pacing and action scenes. I honestly expected it to be a standalone story like most anime films, but I was completely wrong. This movie actually continues the main plot from the series right where it left off.

Impact of the action scenes was definitely lacking some spice, especially considering this is a full-scale movie adaptation. Honestly some parts would have looked much better if they had utilized 3D CG more effectively. Music and sound effects did a lot of heavy lifting to add drama and tension back into it. While the pacing of the action scene was solid, the emotional scenes felt slightly awkward—almost like they were always just a bit off-beat. But seriously, that final monster's CG effect? Incredibly awkward. No, Production I.G., that was a big NO NO.
