Watching the Bount arc feels like walking through mud even when Ishida finally gets some screen time to deal with his lost powers

Episode Context

Episode 89 sits deep in the anime-original Bount arc, following the aftermath of Episode 88's brutal cave ambush that left the Gotei 13 lieutenants reeling. This installment pivots to Ishida's personal trajectory and the group's continued survival underground, functioning as connective tissue between major Bount confrontations. It sets the table for escalating conflicts and alliance shifts that will define the arc's back half.
