Still in Ichigo's body, the Mod Soul confronts the school bullies, easily dispatching them with newfound strength. Its movements are fluid, almost joyful. On a bridge, Rukia pleads for it to return to its pill form, but the Mod Soul refuses, articulating the profound experience of having a beating heart and breathing lungs. It declares its intention to fight anyone, Soul Reaper or Hollow, to maintain this precious, fragile existence.

Suddenly, the Mod Soul senses a powerful Hollow and, driven by its inherent programming, races toward the spiritual pressure. Ichigo, now in his Soul Reaper form, and Rukia track the escalating threat back to the school, where the bullies are still complaining about their earlier encounter. A massive, centipede-like Hollow appears, terrifying the boys. The Mod Soul arrives in a flash, shielding them from the monster's attack.

The Mod Soul fights the monstrous Hollow with fierce determination, taking a deep gash on its shoulder while protecting the children. It screams at them to run, a genuine smile on its face, finding meaning in its self-sacrifice. Ichigo arrives moments later, bisecting the Hollow with a single, powerful strike. His immediate concern, however, is not the Mod Soul's heroism, but the damage inflicted upon his own body, revealing his initial frustration.

Injured and weary, the Mod Soul collapses, its defiance replaced by a heartbreaking resignation. It challenges Ichigo to destroy it, believing its existence to be illegitimate.
