I cannot believe Renji actually achieved Bankai only to get absolutely dismantled like that by his own captain, and watching him struggle to stand while his body was basically falling apart was brutal, and then Byakuya just drops that scarf on him at the end like a burial shroud which really shows how much respect Renji earned even if he lost the fight

Renji really went through it in this one, and seeing those childhood memories with Rukia made his defeat even harder to watch. Byakuya is just so cold with his Senbonzakura Kageyoshi, but you could see a tiny crack in his armor when he left that scarf behind for Renji. Gin being a total creep to Rukia at the end really finished me.
