When Mayuri popped out of that bizarre portal, I just knew he wasn't there to help Ichigo in any normal way. It's always so dramatic with him, instantly treating Ichigo like some new specimen for his messed-up experiments, which honestly kinda makes me wonder if he ever sees anyone as truly human.
