Episode Context

Coming off the Espada's resurgence that escalated the battle to desperate levels, episode 279 introduces the Visoreds as a game-changing third force in the war against Aizen, marking a major narrative pivot roughly three-quarters through the series. The Hirako-Aizen confrontation has been seeded since the Turn Back the Pendulum arc, and this episode finally brings that tension to the present-day battlefield. It sets the stage for the evolving alliances and escalating power plays that will define the remaining stretch of this conflict.
