EPISODE REVIEWS

The contrast between Nanao being super intense and her actually being innocent made the investigation scenes work so well and Isane deserves more screen time after this investigation

Episode Context

Falling within the anime-original Beast Swords arc, this episode follows 'Stray Snake, Tortured Monkey,' which explored Renji and Zabimaru's relationship, and pivots to a different corner of the Gotei 13 dealing with rogue Tōjū spirits. As a standalone filler entry, it doesn't advance the main arc significantly but continues the pattern of rotating character spotlights. Subsequent episodes build toward more consequential Tōjū confrontations.
