I was actually pretty surprised at how well Byakuya pulled off being a double agent, especially after everything with Rukia and Renji in the Soul Society arc. Seeing him defend the Kuchiki name with that intense pride against Koga really showed me he's always got his family's honor as his top priority, even if it means playing a long game.
