EPISODE REVIEWS

The action looked decent but the story was weak and it is nice to be back to the real plot now. Amagai was not a very compelling villain compared to the espada

Episode Context

Episode 189 is the final chapter of the anime-original 'New Captain Shūsuke Amagai' filler arc, resolving the central conflict that 'Duel! Amagai vs. Ichigo' (Episode 188) escalated into a full showdown. With this arc's conclusion, the series immediately pivots back to canon territory. Episode 190 kicks off the 'Hueco Mundo Chapter, Restart!' and resumes the manga-adapted storyline. Viewers eager to return to the main plot can treat this as the last filler checkpoint before things get back on track.
