Mayuri is such a freak for crying over dead samples and yelling at his daughter, but it is the most entertaining part of these filler episodes

Episode Context

Episode 172 sits deep in the anime-original Amagai arc, continuing directly from Episode 171's introduction of Squad 3's new power dynamics and the friction between Kira and Kibune. This installment escalates those internal conflicts while laying groundwork for Episode 173's pivot toward the larger Kasumiōji conspiracy, signaling the filler arc's shift from character-driven squad politics to broader Soul Society intrigue.
