Episode Context

Episode 2 closed out the season's early flashback work, filling in the history between Dao Ma and Diting and explaining how the current traveling group came together. Episode 3 converts all of that backstory into active stakes, returning to the desert road and launching the season's central pursuit conflict. At the halfway point of an eight-episode run, this chapter sets the operational rhythm for what follows: a road under pressure, with Chang'an still ahead and official forces closing in.
