Episode Context

As the first episode of an eight-episode season, this premiere carries the full burden of re-establishing the world, the threat level, and Dao Ma's central mission after the events of Season 1. There is no prior Season 2 episode to build on, so this installment functions as both a reentry point for returning fans and a launchpad for the escort-to-Chang'an premise that drives the season. What it establishes here in tone and stakes is expected to carry forward directly into Episode 2.
