Damn, I honestly didn't expect Xerx to actually work with Mimosa and Asta. Looks like Asta's "head-first" personality really works with all types of people! Although having the Kirsch team split up and be a one-man team feels underwhelming in battle.

Such an amazing introduction to Asta's new ability! The way his dispelled Kirsch's impossibly overpowering spell was shocking. The display of power and validation from everyone who saw it felt soo satisfying.

The interactions between the trio with Xerx (?) Asta and Mimosa is always fun to watch. Their banter and dynamic is so sibling coded.

Whoa, Zora’s past totally took me by surprise! I kinda get why he’s such a grump about the Magic Knights now; it’s gotta sting to see his dad's sacrifice dismissed, and he’s clearly driven by wanting to make things right for him.

I started laughing so hard when Kirsch fell into that stupid pit and he really thought he was too beautiful for a hole in the ground but a non magical trap took him out

Asta's Black Hurricane was absolutely insane, I couldn't believe how quickly he just shut down all that snooty royal magic! It's wild to me how fast he's growing; that felt like such a satisfying moment seeing all that anti-magic just obliterate their fancy spells.

Hearing that Kirsch would rather lose than work with peasants just shows how much of a mess his team was compared to Asta and Mimosa and Zora actually trying to win

Zora really went for it with that Black Hurricane, and I was so on edge wondering if it'd backfire, but seeing him finally have to rely on his squad instead of just his own tricks was actually pretty cool to witness. He's always so guarded, so this felt like a big moment for him to actually connect.

It is wild that Kirsch really got taken out by a literal hole in the dirt because his fancy detection magic only looks for mana and he looked so stupid sitting there

I love that Asta is so focused on the team that he completely ruined Zora's plan just to force them to fight together, and seeing Zora's reaction to all his hard work disappearing in a second was pure comedy and it made the moment they finally trapped that narcissist Kirsch in a literal dirt hole feel like the best kind of karma and justice

I was completely stunned when Asta used Black Hurricane and just nuked every single one of those traps Zora spent all night setting up and I really did not expect that move

Zora actually explaining how his magic works after Asta blew up all his hard work shows that even a guy that cynical can be moved by Asta being a total idiot

I thought it was hilarious when Kirsch fell into that hole because his magic couldn't detect a regular old ditch after he spent the whole time acting like he was better than everyone

That moment where Kirsch gets humbled by Zora and Asta after he spent the whole match talking trash about peasants made that ending feel so earned and satisfying

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the midpoint of the Royal Knights Selection Exam arc, this episode picks up directly after the first round's conclusion and launches the second round with one of its most thematically loaded matchups. It deepens the dynamic between newly assembled teammates, particularly Zora's role alongside Asta, while escalating the tournament's intensity. The outcome of this round will shape the final roster for the assault on the Eye of the Midnight Sun, making every fight carry long-term weight.
