the way that old priest guy was acting with vanessa and noelle was so gross and it was cool when noelle just punched him and shut that down immediately

noelle punching that creepy old man right in the face for being a pervert made me cheer because i was worried this was just going to be another annoying fan service episode

the underwater visuals for the sea dragon cradle spell were so pretty and it is cool to see how much more control noelle has over her power now

watching the black bulls just wandering around this creepy underwater city while everyone stares at them gives off such weird vibes about what this high priest actually wants from them

The high priest is such a weirdo, but setting up a giant battle royale to get the stone is a fun way to start this arc

something feels way too easy about how they got through those massive mana currents and the temple people are likely hiding something dark behind those smiles

I bet Nero is going to find that magic stone way before anyone else because that bird just ditched the group the second they landed at the temple

It was pretty underwhelming, I expected some big fight to break out with cool sea creatures :((
Also, having groups of cult-like strong people as enemies and being separated as a squad is starting to become a trend in this series, this specific scenario has happened more than 2x.

Seeing Noelle navigate the underwater terrain despite being newly able to control her insane abilities felt so fitting, like she earned the control over her abilities after working so hard for it. The previous episodes' sequence really did the heavy-lifting for this aspect though

The setting and entire vibe of the underwater temple was not really what I'd expected, especially since it didn't exactly fit the vibe check with Kahono's character design. The overly friendly villagers and weird old guy threw me off so bad, I didn't know how to react honestly.

Gauche looking like his connection died while talking to Marie was the funniest thing this week and he really needs to get a better communication lacrima

The underwater temple looks way different than a dusty dungeon, and it was actually kind of nice seeing a whole civilization living down there with all that mana

A pervy old priest is not the usual guardian for a magic stone but his battle royale game seems like a cool twist

That high priest guy is such a weirdo and the way he just forces them into a battle royale is going to be interesting for the mages

Having the whole squad actually working together for once was great because usually they are all over the place, and I was so happy for Noelle when she mastered the Sea Dragon’s Cradle since her training felt so earned. It was hilarious how the temple citizens immediately started swearing like Yami, but the battle royale setup with the individual mages is what I am focused on now

I laughed so hard when the temple people started talking like Yami and acting like thugs just because he was their first visitor

Yami actually acting proud of Noelle was the best thing because she worked so hard on that spell and seeing her carry the whole squad under the ocean felt really earned

I was so happy when Yami praised Noelle like that because he never gives out compliments and she finally got that recognition after struggling so hard with her magic control

Mastering that dragon spell was such a huge moment for Noelle and getting the squad down there safely was a massive win

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode follows directly from Noelle's pivotal breakthrough in controlling her water magic, which made reaching the Underwater Temple possible in the first place—a satisfying payoff to her ongoing growth arc. Episode 42 serves as the gateway into the Temple Battle Royale arc, introducing the location and its inhabitants before the real conflict kicks in. At episode 42 of 170, the show is firmly in its early expansion phase, broadening the world beyond the Clover Kingdom's familiar ground.
