Noelle looks so stressed about her magic but seeing her finally step up to lead everyone into the underwater temple makes this beach trip feel like actual progress instead of just random fanservice

Episode Context

Episode 40 lands in the transitional space between the conclusion of the Black Bulls' latest mission briefing in 'Three-Leaf Salute' and the beginning of the Seabed Temple arc, one of the series' more significant early storylines. This episode uses its beach setting to establish Noelle's personal stakes heading into that arc, where her magical growth becomes essential. At roughly the quarter mark of 170 episodes, it's a deliberate calm-before-the-storm installment that builds squad chemistry before the difficulty ramps up.
