Asta using Ki to track Valtos felt like such a huge leap for him, and I was so hyped to see him actually pull it off after all that intense training with Yami. That final anti-magic punch felt like a full-circle moment, he absolutely earned that win and it just gets me pumped for what else he'll learn!

You see Gauche finally using his brain for something other than Marie and that mirror reflection trick against Licht was actually a massive play for the Black Bulls

The animation jump during the Yami and Licht fight was night and day compared to the earlier episodes and seeing them clash at that speed was incredible

My brain still cant process that Yami just stood there and absorbed the light magic and the way he uses dark magic is way too cool compared to how villains usually have it

I never thought light magic would look so scary, but Yami using his dark magic to pull it in and protect everyone was easily my highlight of the episode

Yami's thoughts during his battle with an all-powerful being were so unreal and caught me off guard. He barely cares even when fighting an otherworldly enemy?? The scenes with Theresa were also unnecessarily scary! Allat drama for nothing

Holy peakk, everything going down with Yami and Licht's confrontation. It feels like the series saved their entire budget for the action sequences here. It doesn't even look like the same anime as 3 episodes ago with the kidnapped children thing.

The battle with Asta and the portal guy didn't go in the direction I expected at all! He just flat out punched him in the face, it amazes me sometimes at how indifferent Asta can be to the 'laws' of magic surrounding this world.

Valtos thought he had the upper hand with those portals but Asta just shutting him down with raw physical movement and that new ki sense was a great turn

I honestly didn't think I would ever like Gauche because of the whole sister obsession thing, but his choice to listen to Yami and return to the battlefield really changed my mind. Seeing him use that mirror magic to reflect Licht's massive light spell back at him was such a smart play, and the animation for the Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash looked great

Asta watching Yami and realizing how much further he has to go feels so real and learning about ki is going to be huge for his growth

My heart actually softened for Gauche when he decided to turn back and help Theresa and the kids instead of just running away with Marie

I keep thinking about how Yami just forces Asta to grow by throwing him into the deep end during that Licht fight, and honestly the concept of Ki makes so much sense for someone like Asta, who has zero magic. Watching him finally react to those light speed attacks made me realize how much he is actually improving as a knight.

Yami just staying totally calm while Licht moves at the speed of light is crazy and he makes dark magic look like the strongest thing ever

Yami using dark magic to just suck up all those light attacks from Licht was so cool and he really showed why he is a captain in this fight

Asta using his ki to read Valtos and shut down that spatial magic was smart because he finally found a way to bridge that massive power gap between him and the captains

Licht really does feel like a massive threat with that light magic and I think his views on the kingdom make things way more interesting than just some bad guy

Seeing dark magic and light magic clash like that was a visual treat and Yami holding his own against the leader shows why he is a captain

Licht seems way too strong but Yami just standing there absorbing everything with his katana is the coolest thing this show has done in a while

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 35 continues directly from the confrontation established in 'Light Magic vs. Dark Magic,' escalating the stakes as the Black Bulls face their most dangerous opponents yet in this arc. Sitting roughly a fifth of the way through the full 170-episode run, this episode marks a turning point where the series begins demanding more from its cast both tactically and emotionally. The conflicts introduced here lay critical groundwork for the challenges ahead, signaling that the battles facing the Magic Knights are only going to intensify.
