The pace is slowed downed in this episode. It feels like a story around a fire, and gives a lot of character depth for Secre. It shows how long she has been involved and gives more insight on how the Clover Kingdom actually came to be. The identity of the main demon that Prince Lumiere fights to become the first ever Wizard King is a massive plot twist, the scene where Prince Lumiere has to kill the demon, and he hesitates at first but knowns he has to shows so much courage but in a sad way. Also, Secre was so brave to sacrifice her humanity to seal the devil and keep Prince Lumiere alive.

The producers decided to drop a filler episode right when things were getting interesting and it is such a weird choice that ruins the flow of the season

Seeing Lumiere and Tetia together 500 years ago actually hurts after what happened and Nero had to watch everything fall apart alone for centuries

I can't believe they actually gave us a full recap episode right when things were getting so good! My excitement totally deflated watching all those old scenes again, like c'mon, we just lived through that. Thank goodness the new opening absolutely goes hard though; that song's stuck in my head, and it's the only thing that kept me from being totally annoyed.

Anyone watching this should just skip to the next one and save twenty minutes of your life since it is just Nero thinking about things we already know

There is zero reason to watch this if you are bingeing the show and you should just skip ahead to the canon material instead of wasting your night

This episode barely even qualifies as Nero reminiscing and it is mostly just a recap of the last few arcs that adds nothing to the actual story

You can tell they are just stalling for time with this clip show and it makes the pacing feel sluggish when the story was finally getting somewhere good

Having a shiny new version of the opening is nice, but it does not make up for a twenty minute clip show that halts the story progress.

I am just going to watch the new opening visuals on repeat and ignore the rest of this clip show because the lack of new content is a joke

I spent twenty minutes waiting for a single new scene about Nero, and instead got a clip show of the stuff I watched last week. It is frustrating because the timing is so bad and we should be seeing the aftermath of the big battle instead of looking back. At least the new version of the opening theme looks really sharp.

Coming off the elf arc, I was absolutely buzzing to see what was next, but then that whole recap just totally killed my vibe, man. Why rewind when we were just there, experiencing all the chaos and triumphs? I felt like it really sucked the energy out of the episode, and we needed that momentum!

Placing a massive recap right after the big fight feels like the worst timing and it just kills all the momentum that was building up for the next arc

I have mixed feelings because the story of Secre and Lumiere is definitely the best part of this whole arc, so seeing it all laid out from her point of view is a nice touch. It still feels unnecessary to have a full recap episode right now though. I was really looking forward to seeing Asta and Yami go visit Charlotte instead

The animation actually looks really nice for a recap and the new opening song is really good so at least there is that to look forward to during all the flashbacks

Secre looking back at the elf tribe and the wizard king is okay for a refresher but you probably already remember most of this if you were actually paying attention

I like Nero a lot and hearing her thoughts on the first wizard king makes the history feel more personal but it is still mostly just clips from old episodes

The focus on Secre and her connection to the first wizard king makes the history of the clover kingdom feel a lot more personal even if it is just a recap

I guess seeing Nero and Lumiere again is cool but this is just a recap and we really did not need to see all this stuff again so soon

EPISODE CONTEXT

Arriving at episode 123 of 170, this recap lands after major revelations about Secre Swallowtail's true identity and the ancient history of the Clover Kingdom, summarizing the series' journey so far from her unique perspective. It bridges the intense events of the Elf Reincarnation arc and the developments ahead without advancing the plot. Viewers continuing to the next episode can expect the story to pick back up with forward momentum.
