The bizarre, twist fate that links their lives together at the end of the episode creates a brilliant premise for both comedy and suspense moving forward. If you enjoy crisp sci-fi thrillers with energetic fight choreography, this pilot is an incredible hook.
For an anime from 2008, the CGI looks surprisingly good and never feels out of place. It’s clear that the team behind it put a lot of passion and effort into the animation. If you are into aliens and galactic police then this anime would be right your alley. There is some minor fan service in this episode, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The soundtrack is also excellent and the ED is an absolute banger.
The spectacular space sequence at the beginning provides a thrilling opening. The introduction of the main character is engaging, and the central conflict is complex, providing food for thought while still being told well. The final action scene is also quite impressive.
