pamelas_father_280★★☆☆☆EP 1Everything felt a bit slow at the start because they spend so much time in the club room and it took forever to get to the magic parts with the black brand ritual
After their witchcraft club gets rejected by the student council, three high school girls keep practicing in secret. Then one of them finds a handwritten book at an antique shop, old, dusty, clearly not meant for casual reading, and once they translate it, things shift in a direction nobody planned for. This is the prequel to 'Bible Black,' set twelve years before the main story, following Hiroko Takashiro and her friends as they go from curious students messing with minor spells to something considerably darker after the forbidden tome enters the picture. A transfer student named Reika Kitami shows up and complicates everything further. The show genuinely leans into occult atmosphere: rituals, temptation, the slow creep of power corrupting a tight-knit group. It's only two episodes, so it moves fast, but it builds its dread well for what it is. If you've seen 'Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend' or 'La Blue Girl' and appreciate that older dark supernatural OVA energy, this sits comfortably in that same space. It's explicit, so know what you're getting into, but the actual story holds up: morally ambiguous characters, a genuinely unsettling tone, and enough lore to make you want to track down the main series afterward. Think of it less as a standalone and more as the origin chapter that recontextualizes everything that comes after.

marluxia_454★★★☆☆EP 1That first successful spell felt heavy and it makes you realize they are way out of their league with that cursed text
rukia_reaper★★★☆☆EP 1The art style is definitely a product of its time, but I think the supernatural elements keep it more interesting than the average title in this genre.
genos_guardian_118★★★☆☆EP 1Seeing the origin of the grimoire explains a lot about the mess in the main series and the way the girls treat it like a game is messed up
lexaeus★★★☆☆EP 1I forgot how creepy the atmosphere gets when they start reading those translation notes and the vibes shifted fast once I saw Rie pull out that dusty book from the shop
elle_hq★★★★☆EP 1The stabbing scene was genuinely disturbing and it felt way too real compared to the goofy dialogue and the robotic way the characters responded to the violence
kaito_kromatic★★★☆☆EP 1Watching them find that book and immediately decide to start a cult was a choice, but at least the animation for the magic scenes was decent enough.
finral_flyer★★★★☆EP 1My brain still hurts from the robotic voice acting but the story about the magic book actually had me interested for a minute
raphtalia_raccoon★★★☆☆EP 1The contrast between the dark cult vibes and the absolutely terrible lip syncing makes this feel like a fever dream and I am just confused
professor_oak★★★☆☆EP 1I went into this for the plot but the actual plot about the translation of that dusty book caught me off guard and the whole thing feels way grittier than other stuff in this genre plus the dub is the funniest thing ever recorded and that old man voice coming out of a student had me rolling on the floor
chochin_obake_90★★★☆☆EP 1That plot was total gibberish and I had no idea why anyone was doing anything and the voices made it impossible to take the satanic stuff seriously
isekaibro★★★★☆EP 1It is actually pretty interesting how the girls just dive into the dark magic, though the logic of them not being terrified is kind of insane.
eudial★★★☆☆EP 1The way their mouths do not move at all while they talk is so distracting and it feels like watching a ventriloquist act with demons
professor_birch★★★★☆EP 1The dub for this is hilarious and the girl sounds like a fifty year old man reading a script and I could not stop laughing through that weird ritual scene
simon_the_digger_185★★★☆☆EP 1I think I might be scarred by that stabbing scene in the club room and it was way more intense than I expected for a show like this
gashadokuro_ghoul★★★★☆EP 1you get these short vignettes that feel like reading an old creepypasta and the part about god wanting to die was pretty morbid for a show like this
menomaru★★★★☆EP 1that random racist image in the middle of the episode caught me off guard and it felt so unnecessary because the rest of the occult stuff was already creepy enough
nekomata_ninja★★★★☆EP 1contrast in the shadows looks really cool, even if the characters do not move their mouths when they talk, which makes it feel very old school
necrozma★★★★☆EP 1english dub for this is absolutely hilarious because everyone sounds like a robot and it makes the serious satanic ritual scenes impossible to take seriously
rach_m★★★★☆EP 1i did not expect a plot about black magic books and human sacrifice but the story actually kept me interested and the dark horror vibe feels different for this kind of show
