Bible Black: New Testament
Oshimeter
Synopsis
All over the city, couples are turning up dead, killed mid-act — the women untouched, the men burned to ash from the waist up except for one very specific part. It's a weird case, and that's exactly why the special investigative unit Tokken gets the call. Among their members is Kurumi Imari, a psychic investigator with a personal history that makes her uniquely suited for this kind of thing — dark magic, a traumatic past, and a connection to events most people would rather forget. This is the sequel OVA to the original Bible Black, picking up years after that story left off, and it leans hard into the horror and mystery angle rather than just being a straightforward continuation. The murders have a supernatural signature, witnesses keep reporting ghostly figures, and as Imari digs deeper, old wounds start to reopen. The tone is genuinely dark — more detective thriller with horror elements than you might expect going in. The animation holds up well and does a lot of work selling the unsettling atmosphere. If you've seen La Blue Girl or the original Bible Black and appreciated how those layered actual plot around the explicit content, this scratches a similar itch. It's a 6-episode OVA adapted from the visual novel, so the story stays focused and doesn't overstay its welcome. Go in having seen the first series — the callbacks hit harder when you know what Imari's been through.
