Behind Closed Doors

Synopsis
Somewhere beyond any map, a mysterious mansion sits behind every door a woman with appetites that would make most men turn around and leave. That's the setup for Waver, a 3-episode OVA from 2001 by Shindeban Film, adapted from a visual novel and diving headfirst into BDSM territory without much apology about it. The male protagonist enters this place thinking he's in control — and the whole point is watching that assumption get tested, hard. Each woman he encounters has her own psychology around pain, submission, and dominance, and the mansion itself has this gothic, claustrophobic atmosphere that actually does some heavy lifting for the mood. It's darker and more psychologically charged than you might expect from something this old. If you've watched Bondage Game or Bible Black and wanted something with a slightly more structured narrative framing, Waver gives you that mansion-as-character setup that makes each encounter feel like its own contained story. It's not going to reinvent anything, but for fans of Discipline: The Record of a Crusade-style eroge adaptations, there's a genuine sense of escalating tension here rather than just scene after scene without connective tissue. Three episodes means it moves fast and doesn't overstay its welcome. Go in knowing what it is and it delivers exactly that.
