Beanie's Daily! Food City
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Meet Red Bean — a little red bean who just wants to be eaten. That's it. That's the dream. But day after day, diners pass over this little guy, and he keeps getting sent back to Food City — a hidden world where uneaten food gets cleaned up, repaired, and shipped back out to try again. It's a weirdly charming concept: every piece of food you've ever left on your plate has a whole life going on behind the scenes, complete with jobs, friendships, and existential crises about not being consumed. This ONA follows Red Bean through his daily routine alongside other anthropomorphic food characters like goji berries, tapioca pearls, and aloe vera, all just trying to make it back onto someone's spoon. The vibe is cozy and low-stakes, with short episodes that you can knock out in one sitting. Things get a little more interesting when a food poisoning incident in the human world puts Red Bean under suspicion, but mostly this is about the quiet comedy of food with feelings. If you liked Gudetama's lazy existential energy or the absurd cuteness of Bananya, this hits a similar note — wholesome, a little silly, and surprisingly easy to get attached to. It's the kind of thing you put on when you want something gentle and weird in equal measure. Ten episodes, made by Making Animation, and entirely original — no manga homework required.
