Banyuu Inryoku
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Drawn toward something he can't name by an invisible force, a boy drifts through a pastel dreamscape, searching for his place among the stars. That's the whole premise of Banyuu Inryoku, a single music video by Tani Yuuki that aired on NHK's Minna no Uta program, and honestly, it hits harder than you'd expect from something so short and gentle. The animation by BENTEN Film leans into soft colors and quiet movement — nothing flashy, nothing loud. It's the kind of thing where you sit back and just let it wash over you. The boy's journey feels symbolic in the way that good picture books do: growing up, feeling lost, being drawn toward something you don't fully understand yet. The song itself carries a lot of that weight, melancholic but with this undercurrent of warmth that keeps it from feeling heavy. If you've ever vibed with the poetic atmosphere of something like Shoujo Kakumei Utena's symbolism or the quiet emotional pull of Ameiro Banyuu Inryoku, this occupies a similar headspace — just condensed into a few minutes. It's aimed at kids through the Minna no Uta format, but the themes land for anyone who remembers what it felt like to not quite know where you belonged yet. It's short, it's beautiful, and it stays with you longer than its runtime suggests. Worth the few minutes.
