Episode Context

Following Baki's deliberate choice in 'Parting' to confront a mercenary outfit operating in Hokkaido, this episode drops him directly into that dangerous mission with no easing in. 'Battlefield' serves as the deep dive into that confrontation, expanding the world beyond competitive fighting and into something rawer and more unpredictable. It directly sets up the arrival of Gaia in the next episode, making it essential connective tissue for one of the season's more unconventional arcs.
