EPISODE REVIEWS

Episode Context

A surprisingly introspective opener, this episode trades immediate action for psychological texture. Baki Hanma has conquered every meaningful challenge in front of him, and the show leans hard into what that emptiness actually feels like, restless, hollow, and oddly compelling. The pacing is slow and deliberate, more meditative than explosive, as the camera lingers on elite fighters collectively adrift without purpose. It is not a hype episode; it is a mood-setting one. Beneath that stillness, Mitsunari Tokugawa is quietly engineering something unprecedented, and those background movements carry genuine menace. Fans expecting wall-to-wall brawling will need patience here, but viewers who appreciate character psychology and ominous buildup will find this premiere doing exactly what a strong first episode should, establishing stakes before the chaos arrives.
