Why does this show keep ripping my heart out? The political unrest escalating into a full-scale revolution was incredibly intense, and that devastating, sudden character death while trying to protect the villagers completely broke me. Atlee standing up to the entire Council to declare a brand-new independent nation gave me absolute goosebumps.
This anime may paint itself as a lighthearted and easy going one, but it's precisely in moments like this it won't hesitate to show a darker and realistic theme on the countries politics. A bit of emotional episode but entirely unsurprising in it's twist.
I thought this episode would be a nice cooldown after the war and the peace between both nations, but someone opposed it and manipulated the people of Lutoh. It was disheartening, especially after everything the princess sacrificed.
