Synopsis
For Shigeki, an average high school guy, most of his time goes toward chasing girls and talking about it with his friend Kei. When Kei tips him off that Suika, one of the more popular girls at school, is actually interested in him, Shigeki doesn't waste time. Things move fast, and once they do, his ambitions don't exactly stay modest — he starts eyeing Mariko next, who happens to be Kei's girlfriend. That's the kind of person Shigeki is. This is a two-episode OVA from 1999, produced by Meltdown and adapted from a manga. It sits firmly in hentai territory, so the high school setting and relationship drama are really just the frame for explicit content. The late 90s animation aesthetic gives it that specific era of hentai polish — rougher lines, warmer color palettes — if that style does anything for you. The character dynamics are at least somewhat built out. There's a social triangle here with actual names and history, not just anonymous bodies. It leans into the taboo angle of Shigeki pursuing someone already in a relationship, which gives it a bit more edge than a purely setup-driven entry in the genre. If you've watched things like Bible Black or Discipline: The Record of a Crusade and appreciated when those had some semblance of character motivation driving the scenes, Ayatsuri Ningyou scratches a similar itch. Short runtime, no pretensions about what it is.
