Ave Mujica: The Die is Cast
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Before everything fell apart, Sakiko Togawa had it all — wealth, a close-knit band called CRYCHIC, and a sense of purpose. Then her family's fortune collapsed, the band fell apart, and she was left picking up the pieces alone. That's where Ave Mujica begins. Rather than forming some feel-good comeback group, Sakiko builds a masked symphonic metal band out of sheer desperation, recruiting members who each have their own baggage and reasons for hiding behind a persona. There's her childhood friend Mutsumi, who's too gentle for this world; Uika, who throws herself into the bass with almost unsettling dedication; Umiri, who craves attention she can't seem to get elsewhere; and Nyamu, a lead guitarist wrapped in mystery. None of them are really on the same page, and the tension is there from the jump. This 13-episode TV series from SANZIGEN leans hard into psychological drama — think less K-On! hangout vibes and more Nana-style emotional damage, with characters using music as armor instead of connection. The masked band concept isn't just aesthetic; it ties directly into how these characters conceal trauma and fracture under pressure. The symphonic metal soundtrack genuinely goes hard, which helps. If you liked Love Live! but wished it had sharper edges and darker undercurrents, this is worth your time. It's moody, it's character-driven, and it doesn't rush to make anyone feel better.
